BIOGRAPHY
Peter Schemper is originally from Chicago and received his undergraduate degree in geology and chemistry from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. He currently attends the University of Texas at Austin and is completing a Masters degree in geosciences with a focus on carbonate sedimentology at the Jackson School of Geosciences. He is working with Dr. Robert Loucks and Dr. Qilong Fu in the STARR (State of Texas Advance Research Recovery) research group at the BEG (Bureau of Economic Geology). His Masters research focuses on a 700 ft long core drilled in East Texas through the Smackover and Buckner formations. This core contains a continuous Smackover section which provides valuable information about Smackover facies progression in East Texas. He is characterizing these depositional facies by producing a high resolution lithologic and geochemical data set in order to better understand the environmental conditions under which the sediments were deposited.
