ABSTRACT
Horizontal drilling for unconventional resource plays in the Permian Basin has become the main focus of drilling within the basin. Horizontal wells are actively drilling for unconventional resource plays in the Sprayberry and Wolfcamp Formations in the Midland Basin and for the Bone Springs and Wolfcamp Formations in the Delaware Basin. This talk will examine conventional versus unconventional plays in these formations, looking at how these formations that are now being drilled for unconventional resource play transitioned from conventional to unconventional. Understanding this transition could lead to the next conventional to unconventional hot play!
