January 2022 - Ernie LaFlure

ETGS Member,

Happy New Year!  Your ETGS Board has decided that we will proceed with our regular in person January meeting.  We are monitoring the “Omicron variant” status but have decided not to cancel.

Our Wednesday, January 19, 2022 meeting, will feature David Allen discussing “Challenges and Solutions of Low Resistivity Pay”.  David is with Schlumberger, and Paul Hene highly recommends the talk.  For our February 16 meeting, Jonathan Rotzien will present "Deep-water sedimentary systems: Processes, products and implication".

The Tech and Prospect Expo is back in 2022!  Please save the date for the Tyler Rose Center, March 28-29 2022.  Please consider being an exhibitor or sponsor for this great event.  In addition to the exhibitor area and great networking lunch, we will be having two speaker sessions.  Our morning “technical session” will be made up of two or more BEG speakers from their STARR program. Lorena Moscardelli that leads the program will kick it off with an overview of their research projects. Then Dr. Ian Duncan, along with potentially other members, will discuss new refrac and secondary recovery research.  The afternoon session will be more "State of the Industry" oriented.  Karr Ingham, the Consulting Petroleum Economist with the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers, spoke at the SW AAPG section meeting in Fort Worth and Rich Adams thought it was excellent.  Karr Ingram will give an updated and expanded version of that talk.  We may possibly add another speaker to this session.

As a reminder, ETGS has had to make commitments to Hollytree for numbers of participants, so please support your Society and RSVP.  We look forward to seeing you Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

Back in the saddle in 2022!
